Hampton collection featured on PBS special

Oct. 13, 2006 -- The Washington University Library's Henry Hampton Collection will be featured in a special "Living St. Louis" at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 on KETC/Channel 9. The collection features the work of WUSTL graduate Henry Hampton, creator and producer of "Eyes on the Prize."

"Eyes on the Prize" has a direct connection to St. Louis. Henry Hampton (1940-1998) was a St. Louis native and 1961 graduate of the University. He established Blackside, Inc., the largest African-American owned film production company of its time, and became one of the world's most respected documentary filmmakers. The materials used to create Blackside's films are now housed in a new film archive at Washington University's West Campus Library.
