How can the media get assistance with on-site logistics and technical support?

Will media credentials be required to cover the debate from within the Athletic Complex?

Yes. Credentials for pre-debate coverage will be needed Oct. 5-7. It is our understanding that new credentials for debate-day coverage, issued by the Secret Service, will be needed on Oct. 8.

How, where and when can media pick up the debate credentials?

Media whose credentialing applications have been approved can pick up their credentials from the Credentialing Center in Room 410 on the 4th floor of the Laboratory Science Building on Washington University’s Hilltop Campus. The Laboratory Science Building is on Throop Drive, next to the Ann W. Olin Women’s Building. The Credentialing Center hours will be:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 7, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 8, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Will media credentials be required for pre-debate coverage?

Any member of the media wishing access to the Athletic Complex during Oct. 5-7 will be required to have a credential.

Will media credentials be required to access the public viewing area?

No, but any news media may be asked to provide bona fide press I.D. while on campus.

Will there be designated parking for media covering the debate?

Designated parking for the media will be available Wednesday, Oct. 6 through Friday, Oct. 8 in the Throop Parking Facility (a.k.a. Millbrook Garage) at Throop Drive and Forest Park Parkway, adjacent to the Credentialing Center in the Laboratory Science Building. On Oct. 8, media must enter the campus on Brookings Drive off Skinker Boulevard and will be required to show a press I.D. to gain access to the garage.

Media will be allowed to enter the parking facility during the following times:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 7, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 8, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

The garage may be exited 24 hours a day.

On Tuesday, Oct. 5, media may park in available parking spots on the Hilltop Campus.

What TV/radio capabilities are available at Washington University in St. Louis?

The Washington University studio, in the Office of Public Affairs, supports transmission of both television and radio content. The video studio is equipped with professional broadcast cameras, lighting, and audio gear for transmission to the national and international TV broadcast industry. Live interviews or pre-recorded videotapes can be fed live through the studio’s Vyvx fiber optic line. For radio, the studio is equipped with ISDN lines for high quality voice transmission of live or taped interviews to national and international radio broadcast outlets.
