Jonathan Wolfson is no stranger to political debate. He is a national debate champion, former captain of the Washington University forensics team, and author of The Great Debate! (http://www.greatdebate.net) a textbook used by college and high school progams across the country. He coaches local high school teams and, as a member of the Student Union (http://su.wustl.edu) , he consults with student groups planning their own on-campus debates.
For the presidential campaign season, Wolfson helped organize Educate Yourself 2004 (http://ey2004.wustl.edu) , a weekly series of forums covering a wide range of major policy issues. He helped select and recruit the speakers and will moderate several of the discussions. He says, "Bridging gaps of different interests and creating a program for the benefit of the entire student body has been a challenge, but we are proud to offer this educational stimulus to our fellow students."
Wolfson says he is looking forward to analyzing the rhetorical and political significance of the presidential debate. "I know the debate has increased my excitement for the upcoming election season."
