Like many students, Nadler was not that interested in politics until she got involved in debate preparations this summer, working in the University's Publications Office. Being an art student, she was asked to create a debate pin for students to tack on to their backpacks and jackets.
"I really wanted it to feel very American," says Nadler. "If it's going to the students, and it's going to be a political semester, I thought they would appreciate that too." In the end, the University's vice chancellor gave the thumbs up to Nadler's favorite design, based on the American flag.
Nadler--who is president of her sorority, Delta Gamma; historian of the Washington University Mortar Board Honor Society; and active with Jews in Greek Life--says her debate experience "personalized" the election for her and allowed her "to have some time to invest in this new interest in politics.
