Bio: Barnes is an expert on statistical evidence and forms of proof. She is the co-author of "Road Work: Racial Profiling and Drug Interdiction on the Highway." Barnes has also written on the relationship between crime rates and American attitudes towards the death penalty and deterence and the death penalty.

Additional Background: Before coming to Washington University, Barnes worked as a judicial clerk, focusing on cases related to disability discrimination and criminal procedure. Barnes is currently a Ph.D. candidate in statistics at the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation is about "Bayesian Inference in Spatial Clustering Models of Crime Data."
