Author of The United States, the PLO, and Stability in the Middle East, Henry Berger focuses on the history of American foreign relations, with particular interest in U.S. relations with the Middle East and Latin America. Berger, who has written on various aspects of U.S. foreign policy in the 20th century, teaches a course on the history of U.S. foreign relations since 1945 and co-teaches a seminar on American involvement in the Vietnam War. He was chair of the Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Studies Program at Washington University from 1981-89, and acting chair of the program in 1995-96.
