Clifton Emery

Assistant Professor

Expertise: Effects of domestic violence on children, deviance, trauma, causes of domestic violence

Bio: Clif Emery's is available to speak about domestic violence and its effects on children, quantitative methods and social theory. Among his current projects are secondary data analysis of the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods data and research on domestic violence in South Korea. He is particularly interested in theory and research dealing with mediators and moderators of the relationship between exposure to domestic violence and child behavior problems. Broader areas of interest include child development, violence against women, and theories of deviance. In 2007, Dr. Emery joined the Brown School faculty as an assistant professor. Prior to accepting his current position, he worked as a Social Intervention Instructor at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. Dr. Emery continues to serve as a Statistical Consultant for the Project on Youth Mentoring.
