Sebastian Galiani

Associate Professor of Economics

Bio: Professor Galiani's primary research focuses on development economics, particularly evaluating public policies undertaken by developing countries. Galiani received his Ph.D. from Oxford University in 2000. He worked at the Universidad de San Andrés in Argentina where he was promoted to the associate rank in 2005. He is currently the chairman of the executive committee of the Network of Inequality and Poverty, sponsored jointly by LACEA, the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank.

Starting early

Preschool extends disadvantaged kids' years in school

Nov. 26, 2007 --
Early childhood education advocates have a new weapon at their disposal. Recent research by an economics professor at Washington University in St. Louis provides evidence that preprimary education leads to more years spent in school based on the experience of children from relatively disadvantaged households in Uruguay.
