Several complex variables; harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, geometry, interpolation of operators, complex function theory, and real analysis are among his specialties. And, rare among mathematicians in the United States, he is an accomplished author and award-winning expository writer who sees a need for mathematicians to improve their professional lives through better writing. Krantz has published extensively and has reached out to the community with outreach programs. Among his most recent research projects is a collaboration involving the application of the harmonic analysis tool wavelets to the field of plastic surgery.
