Bio:
Urice has been directing professionally for more than 17 years. Directing and dramaturgical credits include productions for some of the nation's finest regional theaters, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis), Theatre X (Milwaukee), Steppenwolf Theatre (Chicago), The Goodman Theatre (Chicago), Organic Theatre (Chicago), Bailiwick Theatre (Chicago) and Chicago Dramatists Workshop. Several Chicago productions were recipients of Joseph Jefferson Citations.

On Cloud Nine
 PAD presents Caryl Churchill?s satire of colonialism and sexual politics Nov. 12-14 and 19-21

Male characters played by women, female characters played by men, a dutiful matron who morphs into a vulnerable gay man, a patriarchal husband who becomes a mischievous five-year-old girl. In November, Washington University's Performing Arts Department in Arts & Sciences will present an all-new production of Cloud Nine, the classic, gender-bending satire of colonial and sexual conquest by London playwright Caryl Churchill.

October 1992. St. Louis and the nation await the Clinton-Bush-Perot presidential debate at Washington University. An estranged mother and son reunite for perhaps the last time at a fading St. Louis icon. The stage is set for Kid Peculiar at the Coral Court Motel, by playwright-in-residence Carter W. Lewis. The St. Louis-based tragi-comedy — commissioned as part of the university's 150th anniversary celebration — will make its world premiere in the A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre March 25-28.

Additional Background: Urice teaches directing, acting and creativity courses and is actively involved in the new play development program. Directing credits include Samuel Beckett's Endgame, Susan Sontag's Alice in Bed, Dove's The Darker Face of the Earth and the premiere production of Carter Lewis' recent work American Storm. She is also an instructor for Washington University's Shakespeare's Globe Summer Program in London, and has served as guest director and teacher at the University of Virginia, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Luther College and Elmhurst College.
