Mr. Harrington spent over 25 years in the telecommunications and information technology business. He has been a senior executive for five start-up companies and has also been involved with turn-around and roll-up consolidations in the technology industry. He is currently the Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship & Director, Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. He also serves as Investment Manager for the Olin School Hatchery™ Seed Capital Fund.

Four area non-profits garner prizes totaling $110,000
 WUSTL's Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition winners have an artistic bent

2008 -- On April 17, four local nonprofits were honored at the Awards Dinner for the 3rd annual Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition (SEIC). The winners are StudioSTL, LiveFeed, BEGIN and Indego Africa. The groups will receive a total of $110,000 in cash and in-kind support for successfully demonstrating that their ventures have social value and that their group has the ability to implement its plans.

 Two business startups collect $75,000 in seed funding at the 10th annual Olin Cup Competition

Release embargoed until 9 p.m. Feb. 7, 2008. Two student-owned business startups won the top honors at the Olin Cup Competition award ceremony Thursday, Feb. 7. The first place award of $50,000 went to Is That One Good? an internet web site where consumers can compare notes on goods and services. The second place, $25,000 prize went to MedExceed, a medical device company. The awards were announced at a ceremony on Feb. 7 at Washington University in St. Louis. Arnold W. Donald, former chairman of Merisant and current president and chief executive officer of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International was the keynote speaker.

Philanthropic startups vie for annual award
 Semi-finalists announced for the Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition at WUSTL

2007 -- The Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Washington University in St. Louis has announced the semi-finalists in the 2008 Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition. This year's semi-finalists represent a range of proposals including of a group of college students with a plan to provide counseling and mentoring services for low-income students, to an established nonprofit with a proposal for a mixed-use small business incubator.

 2007 Olin Cup finalists offer wide range of product and service ideas

The finalists for the 2007 Olin Cup Competition include six teams, four of which are student-owned or student-supported ventures. The annual business formation contest is organized by the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at WUSTL. Ultimately, two teams will win up to $70,000 in seed investment capital and a student-owned or - supported team will win a $5,000 cash prize.

Entrepreneurship 101

2007 -- Hundreds of U.S. colleges and universities have awakened to the fact that many of their graduates are likely to work for themselves someday. Many are bolstering their courses and extracurricular activities for aspiring entrepreneurs and helping students create businesses before graduation.
And many campuses are teaching entrepreneurship beyond the business school, to get students in other disciplines interested in business development.
Ken Harrington, managing director of WUSTL businss school's Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, talks about our program.
