Gathering to show WUSTL's solidarity with Virginia Tech University

WHAT: Members of the Washington University community will gather to show support for those impacted by the Virginia Tech tragedy. Candles will be lit, followed by a moment of silence, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to add their thoughts to a condolence message that will be sent to Virginia Tech University.

WHO: Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton will deliver remarks, as will Karin Johnes, a Virginia Tech alumna and former director of WUSTL's Greek life; John Lottes, director of Lutheran Campus Ministry; and the Rev. Gary Braun, director of the Catholic Student Center at WUSTL. Student speakers from various faith backgrounds will share reflections, prayers or other means of support for the Virginia Tech community.

WHERE: Brookings Quadrangle, which is directly west of Brookings Hall, the university's main administration building that sits on hill overlooking Forest Park.

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2006. The entire observance is expected to last about an hour.
