Washington University Opera in concert Dec. 8 and 9

Nov. 30, 2006 -- The Washington University Opera will present a program titled "In Women's Chambers" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9, in Karl Umrath Lounge. The program will include portions of three 20th-century operas: Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia (1946), Conrad Susa's Black River (1975) and Little Women (1998) by Mark Adamo.

Performances are free and open to the public and are sponsored by the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences. Karl Umrath Lounge is located in Karl Umrath Hall, just north of the Mallinckrodt Student Center, 6445 Forsyth Blvd. For more information, call (314) 935-4841 or email staylor@wustl.edu.

Jolly Stewart, director of the Washington University Opera, directs the concert. John Stewart, director of vocal activities in the Department of Music, conducts.
