Female M.B.A. students aim to increase their numbers in b-school and the workplace

Record-breaking attendance expected at conference for women M.B.A.s at the Olin School of Business

WHAT: The Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis is hosting the National Association of Women M.B.A.'s conference and job fair. More than 800 women from all over the country are expected to attend.

WHEN: Nov. 3-5, 2006. Starting at 8 a.m.

WHERE: The Knight Center and Simon Hall at Washington University, on Snow Dr. between Big Bend and Skinker. Access to Snow Dr. is available from the Forest Park Parkway.

WHO: Breakout sessions include CEOs, entrepreneurs and professional consultants discussing everything from corporate social responsibility to venture capital to negotiation skills.

Keynote speakers include Kristen Pederson, partner in strategic growth and market development leader at IBM, and Kim Malone, director of online sales and operations for AdSense Online at Google. Maxine Clark, Build-a-Bear Workshop founder and chief executive bear and chairman, will top the affair delivering the keynote address at a dinner at the Chase Park Plaza.

WHY: Business school is the last of the professional schools to have an equal number of men and women enrolled. Both NAWMBA and the Olin School of business are working to encourage more women to go to business school and increase their numbers in executive offices.
