WUSTL hosts forum on financing university education in tough economic climate, April 14

April 7, 2009 -- "Financing University Education" is the focus of a free public conference to be held 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 14 in the Bryan Cave Moot Court Room. Anheuser-Busch Hall, Danforth Campus, Washington University in St. Louis.

Because financing a university education in the current economic climate may seem daunting, the conference features advice from a variety of perspectives, including university administrators, economics faculty and investment banking specialists.

David Breneman, the Newton and Rita Myers Professor in Economics of Education at the University of Virginia, will open the event with a keynote speech on "What Colleges Can Learn from Recessions Past."

The following panel discussion will include input from Sebastian Galiani, Ph.D., associate professor of economics at Washington University; Parul Jain, chief investment strategist, MacroFin Analytics LLC; and James McLeod, Ph.D., vice chancellor of students at Washington University.

The event, which closes with an audience question-and-answer session, is sponsored by the Department of Economics, the Undergraduate Economics Association, and the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy, all in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.
