WUSTL Flag at half-staff in honor of Eric van Cleve

April 14, 2008 -- The WUSTL flag is at half-staff in honor of Eric Van Cleve, a member of this year's graduating MFA class, who died in his sleep on Thursday night. He was home visiting his parents in Dublin, Ohio.

Eric was born in Ohio in 1982. He attended Ohio State University where he graduated in 2005 with a degree in English. In 2003 he was awarded a fellowship to the Bucknell Seminar for Younger Poets at Bucknell University. In 2005, he received an Honorable Mention for the Academy of American Poets Prize, and in 2005 he was a Finalist for the Indiana Review Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in Fourteen Hills ("Rendezvous with the Transitive Property") and in the 2005 online edition of Rio Grande Review ("Intermission").

For details of funeral arrangements, or if you would like to send condolences, please contact David Schuman, dsschuma@artci.wustl.edu.
