Albright, former U.S. secretary of state, has been selected to give the 2003 Commencement address at Washington University in St. Louis, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton. The university's 142nd Commencement will begin at 8:30 a.m. May 16 in Brookings Quadrangle on campus. During the ceremony, Albright will also receive an honorary doctor of humanities. Full story

New Residential MBA Offering at Olin

New 18-month Executive MBA program meets once a month at Washington University in St. Louis; overnight lodging and meals included in tuition

A new residential Executive MBA program is beginning next September at the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Classes will meet just once a month from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the business school's Charles F. Knight Executive Education Center. The program grants a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Washington University in only 18 months. Full story


Molecule May Help Ward Off Infection

Medical: Novel molecule may contribute to intestinal health

New data suggests that a novel molecule appears to be involved in the intestine’s response to infection. The study was a collaboration between researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and the Institut Curie in Paris. It appears in the March 13 issue of the journal Nature. Powwow Highlights American Indian Awareness Week

Social work school co-sponsors American Indian Awareness Week, powwow

An American Indian powwow, traditional cuisine, crafts, a film and presentations by Kerry Bird and Rebecca Tsosie are among the highlights of Washington University's American Indian Awareness Week March 17-22. The annual powwow and awareness week allow Washington University's American Indian students to share their unique cultures with the rest of the campus and the St. Louis community. The events are free and open to the public. Full story

Chimpanzees with little or no human contact found in remote African rainforest

The Goualougo Triangle, nestled between two rivers in a Central African rain forest, is so remote that primate researchers who traveled 34 miles, mostly by foot, from the nearest village through dense forests and swampland to get there, have discovered a rare find: chimpanzees that have had very little or no contact at all with humans.
