Occasionally the WUSTL flag atop Brookings Hall on the Danforth Campus will be lowered to half-staff in honor of a member of the WUSTL community who has passed away. This page provides information about whom the flag is lowered and also includes an archive of those whom we have honored in the past. Lynne "Angel" Cooper Harvey

May 6, 2008 -- Legendary news producer Lynne "Angel" Cooper Harvey, wife of broadcaster Paul Harvey, died Saturday, May 2, at the couple's home in River Forest, Ill., following a long battle with leukemia. She was 92. Born and raised in St. Louis, Angel — as she was universally known — earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in English from Washington University and worked at local radio station KXOK-AM, where she met Paul, her husband of 68 years.

April 25, 2008 -- Richard J. Parvis, professor emeritus at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work and leader in the area of international social development, died Sunday, Feb. 24. He was 92. A memorial service is scheduled for April 26, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. in Brown Hall Lounge.

April 14, 2008 -- The WUSTL flag is at half-staff in honor of Eric Van Cleve, a member of this year's graduating MFA class, who died in his sleep on Thursday night at his parents' home in Dublin, Ohio.
