 Emergency notification system to be tested Oct. 21

Oct. 14,
2009 -- Washington University in St. Louis will test its emergency notification system, WUSTLAlerts, at approximately 12:50 p.m. Oct. 21. The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather that day or some other emergency is occurring at that time.

2009 -- Traffic around the university will be very heavy the morning of Friday, May 15, due to the university's annual Commencement ceremony. Drivers may want to consider an alternate route.

 Washington University in St. Louis' Emergency Notification System to be tested March 2

2009 -- Washington University in St. Louis will test its Emergency Notification System at noon Monday, March 2. The test will be held in conjunction with St. Louis County's monthly siren test, which occurs at 11 a.m. on the first Monday of each month.

Cooperative effort
 University installs closed-circuit television system on Greenway Walk

Feb. 4,
2009 -- The installation of a closed-circuit television system on the Greenway Walk began Feb. 2, announced Don Strom, chief of Washington University Police. The Greenway Walk pedestrian walkway is located in University City between Melville and Westgate avenues, north of the Forest Park Parkway overpass connecting the Danforth Campus to University City. Cameras also are being installed on Melville Avenue from Kingsbury Boulevard to Washington Avenue.

'Where to Go' in an emergency
 University kicks off 'Where to Go' campaign

Washington University in St. Louis launches its "Where to Go" campaign this fall to help the campus prepare for emergency situations. During the fall semester, members of the University's Crisis Management Team will give presentations at student, staff and faculty meetings explaining where to go for information before, during and after an emergency.

Grease fire in Millbrook Square apartments
 Students unharmed

March 26,
2007 -- A grease fire broke out in an apartment kitchen in Millbrook Building Two on Saturday, March 24, forcing the evacuation of the building. The Clayton Fire Department coordinated the fire response, which included emergency crews and vehicles from six surrounding municipalities. Millbrook Two, which is part of the Millbrook Square Apartments located in the northwest corner of the Danforth Campus, houses 51 students. No students were injured, but some are still not able to return to their apartments and are being housed temporarily at the Knight Center on campus.

2004 -- To help ensure the security before, during and after the Presidential Debate at Washington University on October 8, traffic will be restricted or, in some limited cases, completely prohibited on streets near and within the Washington University HILLTOP campus throughout the day of the event.
