History of Presidential Debates at Washington University in St. Louis
 WUSTL honored with debates five times

Nov. 19,
2007 -- Washington University in St. Louis has hosted more debates than any other institution in history. Since 1992, the university has been asked by the Commission on Presidential Debates to host debates in five consecutive elections.

Oct. 25,
2004 -- A great range of social, political and economic issues hang in the balance of the imminent presidential election outcome. These issues, and their significance to the American public, will be explored in a "Town Hall" style meeting with Washington University faculty members for the Nov. 3 Assembly Series. The event, to be held at 11 a.m. in Graham Chapel on the Washington University campus, is free and open to the public.

Oct. 8,
2004 -- President Bush and Senator John Kerry take the stage at WUSTL tonight in the second presidential debate. This will be the first time Bush and Kerry will face each other directly on economic and domestic issues. But, the main topic is likely to be the war in Iraq, as discussed below in this article by Jon Sawyer of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Washington University Athletic Complex is continuing its transformation from sports venue to "town hall" for the second presidential debate on, Oct. 8. In the second of a series of media briefings, university administrators and students provided updates on debate preparations, security issues, student-organized events and efforts to mobilize young voters.

The Washington University Athletic Complex looks less and less like the home to some of the most successful NCAA Division III teams every day. In the first of a series of media briefings, university administrators updated members of the media about the progress of transforming the Athletic Complex into a "town hall" for the second presidential debate, on Oct. 8.
