 Washington University names Campbell assistant vice chancellor for real estate

Mary B. Campbell, senior vice president for Bank of America, has been named assistant vice chancellor for real estate at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Henry S. Webber, executive vice chancellor for administration. Campbell's appointment will be effective April 13.

 Washington University in St. Louis ends sales of bottled water on campus

| WUSTL has fielded questions from groups from other universities about how WUSTL implemented the bottled water ban. |
Faculty, students and staff on Washington University in St. Louis' Danforth, North and West campuses no longer can find bottled water in vending machines or at most campus eateries. Because of concerns about the environmental impact of bottled water, WUSTL ended sales of the product in January, and administrative offices no longer offer bottled water at events and meetings.

 Stanton to head administration, finance at School of Medicine

Richard Stanton has been named associate vice chancellor and associate dean for administration and finance at the School of Medicine. Stanton's appointment, effective July 1, 2008, was announced by Larry J. Shapiro, M.D., executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine.

2008 -- Merle Kling, Ph.D., former provost, executive vice chancellor, dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and professor of political science at Washington University in St. Louis, died April 8 of esophageal cancer in St. Louis. He was 89.

Executive Vice Chancellor Edward S. Macias, Ph.D., dean of Arts & Sciences and the Barbara and David Thomas Distinguished Professor in Arts & Sciences, has been named provost, effective Jan. 1, 2009, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton announced.

Engineering announcement
 Engineering dean announces her intention to step down

2008 -- Mary J. Sansalone, Ph.D., dean and professor at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Engineering and Applied Science, who since July 2006 has directed the renewal of the school, has announced today her intention to step down from her position as dean at the end of the academic year to devote herself to teaching, research and other forms of University service.

 Washington University names director of federal relations

Jason M. Van Wey has been appointed director of federal relations at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Pamela S. Lokken, vice chancellor for government and community relations. Van Wey will oversee the university's day-to-day communications with the U.S. Congress and executive branch agencies on national legislative and regulatory policies and issues.

 Washington University announces 2008-09 tuition, fees, room and board

Jan. 18,
2008 -- Undergraduate tuition at Washington University in St. Louis will be $36,200 for the 2008-09 academic year — a $1,700 (4.9 percent) increase over the 2007-08 current academic tuition of $34,500. The required student activity fee will total $362, and the student health fee will be $686. The announcement was made by Barbara A. Feiner, vice chancellor for finance.
