2009 -- Should weather conditions create potentially hazardous travel conditions, Washington University will evaluate the situation and take into consideration the safety of the University's faculty, staff and students as well as the services that must be provided despite the inclement weather. In the unlikely event that WUSTL alters the normal work and/or class schedule, an announcement will be posted on theWUSTL home page, and a number of media outlets also will air an announcement.

 WUSTL tabs Leah Merrifield to be special assistant for diversity initiatives

In an effort to strengthen diversity among the students, faculty and staff at Washington University in St. Louis, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton has appointed Leah Merrifield as special assistant to the chancellor for diversity initiatives. Merrifield, director of community relations in the Office of Governmental and Community Relations, will assume her new position July 1. She will report to Wrighton.

2004 -- Nancy P. Pope, Ph.D., was promoted to associate dean of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Dean Robert E. Thach, Ph.D.

 John E. Klein named executive vice chancellor for administration at Washington University in St. Louis

John E. Klein, currently chairman and former president and chief executive officer of Bunge North America, Inc., will become the new executive vice chancellor for administration at Washington University in St. Louis, according to Mark S. Wrighton, chancellor. The appointment is effective Sept. 1.
