Drake, Washington U. stars set pace for Academic All-Americans

Senior guard Adam Emmenecker of Drake and senior forward Troy Ruths of Washington University (Mo.) head the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America men's basketball teams, it was announced this week.
The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Emmenecker topped the University division list. He has a 3.97 grade-point average while juggling four majors: management, business, finance and entrepreneurial management.
Emmenecker is averaging 7.4 points per game and leads the Missouri Valley Conference in assists. Drake is 24-3 and has clinched its first MVC title since 1971.
Emmenecker was joined on the first team by D.J. Augustin (Texas), Justin Hare (Belmont), Jack Leasure (Coastal Carolina) and Brett Winkelman (North Dakota State). Hare, Leasure and Winkelman all earned second-team accolades in 2007.
